Bordeaux: Vintage 2000

PREVIOUS TASTING ARCHIVE – DECEMBER 2022

The opportunity for wine lovers to experience the top wines of Bordeaux is becoming increasingly rare. Prices have risen beyond many pockets, with some wines sold out even before they hit retailers’ shelves. That is especially true for legendary vintages like 2000, greeted with unamimous excitement when the wine were released, but now rarely appearing on the market. Robert Parker rates the vintage in the Médoc as 96/100, or ‘Extraordinary’.

Join Tom in a tasting of six Bordeaux wines, selected from his own personal cellar.

To experience six top Bordeaux from a fabled vintage is a rare opportunity, but now you can do so in the comfort of you own home, with Tom’s expert guidance along the way.

If it was possible to buy these six bottles today it would cost around £650-£700. Tom has set aside two bottles of each wine, with a maximum of 26 tickets for sale priced at £99. The wines will be carefully decanted into 50ml bottles and securely packed. The price includes the samples, an online tasting tutored by Tom, and tracked first class postage to UK addresses. The session will be recorded, so those who cannot join us live on the night can catch-up in their own time.

What We Will Taste

We will taste some of the best Bordeaux wines of the millenneum year. These include the outstanding 2nd growth Château Léoville-Barton from St-Julien (95/100 Tom Cannavan and Robert Parker, 18/20 Jancis Robinson), and some of the stars of Pauillac including 5th growth Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste (95/100 Robert Parker, 18/20 Jancis Robinson). We’ll also look at a star Cru Bourgeois and cover several communes, from Moulis-en-Médoc to Canon-Fronsac.
