Tired of the same old Shiraz? Join us on an exciting journey through Australia’s diverse wine landscape, exploring both iconic classics and bold new waves.

Tom, fresh from his own Australian travels in February, will guide you through two evenings of discovery (April 18th & 25th, 7pm-8:15pm).

Australia is without a doubt one of the world’s greatest wine-producing countries – not in terms of volume, but in quality. Move beyond some of the big supermarket brands and you will discover some wonderful wines made by passionate artisan producers.

The Wines

Aussie classics are well represented. We’ll have a lime- and nectarine-scented Clare Valley Riesling and a Grenache from one of the word’s greatest terroirs for the variety, McLaren Vale. We do also taste Shiraz, but this one’s from the Adelaide Hills a true expression of its cool-climate credentials from vineyards high in the Mount Lofty Ranges.

We’ll also explore lesser-known gems, like a Verduzzo, originally from Friuli, made by the Italian-inspired Pizzini in Victoria, a high-altitude Sauvignon Blanc from the emerging Orange region, and a funky Barossa red that defies categorization – sitting somewhere between a rosé and a red, it’s described as ‘soft and smashable.’ Who am I to argue?
