Classic Fine Wines of France

PREVIOUS TASTINGS ARCHIVE – NOVEMBER 2021

The opportunity for wine lovers to experience the top wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy is becoming increasingly rare. Prices have risen beyond many pockets, with some wines sold ‘on allocation’, without ever hitting retailers’ shelves.

Now, join Tom in a tasting of six fine wines he has chosen from his own cellar, celebrating the best of Bordeaux and Burgundy. There’s a special treat to finish in the shape of a 31-year-old sweet wine of the Loire. Tickets for the tasting are priced at £89, to include a live online tasting session tutored by Tom and six 50ml samples of the wines delivered to your door. If all of these wines were still available, the six bottles would cost around £500 to buy.

What We Will Taste

We will taste the very best of Bordeaux, including the outstanding 2012 vintage from 2nd growth Château Pichon-Baron, one of the stars of Pauillac on the Left Bank. From the 2008 vintage in Pomerol on the Right Bank (rated as ‘Extraordinary’ by Robert Parker) comes Château Petit-Villages. From Sauternes, a chance to taste one of the elite wines of the region and, yes, another ‘Extraordinary’ vintage, the Château Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé 2015.

Moving on to Burgundy we’ll have top flight white and red wines. We begin with a Grand Cru Chablis from the slopes of the Grenouilles vineyard, then one of the best Premier Crus of Nuits St Georges, from the legendary Domaine de l’Arlot and 2015 – a vintage rated 98/100 by Parker. Finally, a chance to taste history with a 31-year-old Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley and the single vineyard of Clos Baudoin Vouvray Moelleux 1990. That completes our fabulous line up.
