All Along the Loire

PREVIOUS TASTINGS ARCHIVE – APRIL 2022

The River Loire flows for over 1000 kilometres, from the centre of France to the Atlantic ocean. All along it banks, an incredible array of famous wine appellations make it one of the world’s most important wine rivers. Over the two sessions Tom will take us on a journey, from Sancerre to Muscadet, exploring its terroirs, grapes and famous names.

We’ll taste Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Chenin Blanc from the heart of Saumur, fresh and appetising Melon de Bourgogne from Muscadet and a delicious Cabernet Franc from Saumur-Champigny.

Two of the Loire’s most iconic wine styles are included too of course. Its fine, traditional method sparkling wines and its glorious sweet Botrytis wines are rightly adored. We’ll taste a Crémant de Loire Brut sparkling wine, and a sweet Coteaux du Layon from the six villages within this most prestigious appellation.

I am delighted to say that the historic and distinguished wine importer, Mentzendorff, are supporting this tasting with a very significant discount on my selected wines. Founded in 1858, Mentzendorff’s portfolio really is a who’s who of the world’s top wine estates, from Champagne Bollinger to Taylor’s Port. For this tasting they are working with their Loire estates, and are able to offer these six wines with a generous discount, exclusively for attendees at this tasting.
